Caucasian ivy, Hedera colchica<\/em> \u2018Dentata\u2019<\/strong>, bears the largest leaves of the genus Hedera. <\/em>They can reach up to 25 cm in length.<\/p>

The foliage, which is not lobed or three-lobed, has small teeth at the margin. It smells strong when crumpled. The leaf blade is a dull green.<\/p>

This cultivar can be used as a climber or ground cover for very large areas. When used as a wall climber, the leaves fall from the long stems to create a spectacular wall covering. Be sure to cut back any branches that don't take hold, otherwise the whole stem will come loose from its support.<\/p>

This is a very hardy ivy. It is said to have survived the bitter cold of 1893.\u00a0<\/p>

        Ivy is rarely attacked by parasites. What's more, in the event of infestation, it is generally hardy enough to avoid irreversible damage. Potential pests include the weaver mite<\/p>

        Weaver mite (Tetranychus urticae)<\/span><\/h2>

        This red mite, half a millimetre long, is particularly fearsome in greenhouses. It likes dry conditions. It weaves fine webs and discolours leaves by stinging the leaf blade.<\/p>

        As a preventive measure, it is advisable to maintain a moist, well-ventilated environment. In the event of infestation, apply a generous drench to both sides of the leaves and repeat for several days. If the infestation persists, treatment with an acaricide soap or Neem oil may be necessary.<\/p>
