        Is ivy damaging the walls?<\/span><\/h2>

        Ivy damages walls! That's a common misconception that's hard to dispel! But it's not true.<\/p>

        Ivy cleans walls by absorbing moisture. It also insulates them from the severe temperature variations that put them to the test.<\/p>

        On old walls, it acts as a reinforcement and support. This has led many archaeologists to say that, without ivy, many valuable historical ruins would have been destroyed by the elements (rain, frost, heatwaves) over the centuries. Ivy has protected them and kept them intact.<\/p>

        What damages walls is pulling out ivy. Just trim it back.<\/p>
