Probabilmente tra le 1.000 e le 2.000. Il numero \u00e8 difficile da stabilire, poich\u00e9 non tutte le cultivar offerte dai vivai di tutto il mondo sono necessariamente referenziate. Questo sistema si basa principalmente sulla forma delle foglie. Ha il vantaggio di essere semplice e di facile lettura. Tuttavia, poich\u00e9 la natura \u00e8 spesso pi\u00f9 complicata delle nostre semplicistiche classificazioni umane, una stessa cultivar pu\u00f2 essere classificata in pi\u00f9 categorie.<\/p><p>Il sistema Pierot comprende 9 categorie:<\/p><ul><li><strong>Alici adulta<\/strong> \u2013 <strong>Edera adulta<\/strong> Tutte le piante di edera che sono passate dallo stadio giovanile di rampicante a quello definitivo di arbusto, producendo fiori e frutti.<\/li><li><strong>Alcea a zampa d'uccello<\/strong> \u2013 <strong>Edera a zampa d'uccello <\/strong>Si tratta di piante di edera le cui foglie sono costituite da lobi molto stretti e profondi, come zampe d'uccello.<\/li><li><strong>Edera riccia<\/strong> \u2013 <strong>Edera riccia<\/strong> Le foglie non sono piatte, ma ondulate, arricciate, piegate o orlate.<\/li><li><strong>Ventaglio di edera<\/strong> \u2013 <strong>Edera a ventaglio<\/strong> Edera a foglia larga e a ventaglio.<\/li><li><strong>Alici a forma di cuore <\/strong>\u2013 <strong>Edera a forma di cuore<\/strong> Edera con base fogliare a forma di cuore.<\/li><li><strong>Ivy-ivies<\/strong> \u2013 <strong>Edera comune<\/strong> Edera comune: riguarda tutte le edere che hanno mantenuto la forma tipica dell'edera comune, foglie piatte con 3-7 lobi.<\/li><li><b>Miniature-ivies<\/b> \u2013 <b>Edera in miniatura <\/b>Edera a foglia piccola, di solito lunga meno di 2,5 cm.<\/li><li><b>Stranezze<\/b> \u2013 <b>Curiosit\u00e0 <\/b>Un tipo di edera le cui foglie assumono forme originali e insolite.<\/li><li><b>Edera variegata<\/b> \u2013 <b>Edera mista<\/b> Edera con foglie multicolori.<\/li><\/ul><p>Come si pu\u00f2 notare, questo sistema di classificazione dell'edera \u00e8 molto accessibile, anche per i non addetti ai lavori. \u00c8 questo che ne ha decretato il successo. Ce lierre particulier fut baptis\u00e9 &lsquo;<b>Pittsburgh<\/b>&lsquo;.\u00a0<\/p><p>Ce cultivar a une autre particularit\u00e9 tr\u00e8s int\u00e9ressante, c&rsquo;est qu&rsquo;il a une forte tendance \u00e0 muter, \u00e0 former ce que les botanistes appellent des \u00ab\u00a0sports\u00a0\u00bb (c&rsquo;est-\u00e0-dire des mutaziones). Il en est r\u00e9sult\u00e9 quantit\u00e9 de nouveaux cultivars d\u00e9rivant de &lsquo;Pittsburgh&rsquo;, au point que l&rsquo;on peut en faire une dixi\u00e8me cat\u00e9gories de classification des lierres.
